Happy Birthday to Us

Happy birthday to us!
Happy birthday to us!
Happy birthday Abby and Me!
Happy birthday to us!!!

Well, how did I spend my birthday? Not in the wisest way, considering my new determination for dieting. Hubby and I went out to Shady Maple for dinner b/c you get a free meal on your birthday. The place is a huge smorgasbord, all-you-can-eat of whatever you want!!!

I tried to be good. I didn't eat much earlier in the day. And for dinner, I had lots of veges and fruit, fish and turkey instead of some of the higher fat/calorie meats. I really limited my intake compared to what I would have done in the past.

But I couldn't say no to dessert! They have fantastic Apple Dumplings. They are so good; oh, how I love them. I did fore go the ice cream with it though.

To my dismay-- but luck-- it tasted horrible. It wasn't completely baked all the way, so the dough was still chewy, not flaky and delicious. My mind was saying "Eat it anyway; you deserve it; maybe that next bite will be better..."

But I stood up to temptation! I put my fork down and said "no!"

Moving on...

Today I'm meeting my SIL and MIL at the mall. We'll undoubtedly have lunch there, at Chik-Fil-A. So, I need to go over to Dotti's Weight Loss Zone and check out the point values of their food items.

Brutally Honest

I just read an entry at Tales from the Scales. It made the very good point of being brutally honest with yourself... The reason your not losing weight isn't b/c of this or that, but b/c you aren't adequately sticking to it.

My official "start-date" is tomorrow, Sunday Oct 21 2007. Its a crappy day to pick, b/c my birthday is Monday and my Hubby wants to take me out to dinner. But, I'll just need to save up my daily points and then also make wise choices when out.

What are my goals? Many are the same as before, but I need to remind myself...

1) Weight Watchers Flex Points. I currently get 26 points a day. Lots of fruits, veges, fiber! I'm already pretty good with the fiber, but need to up the veges and fruit.

2) Exercise 3x a week. At minimum. More is definitely better, but I don't want to set myself up for failure by requiring every day already. After pregnancy, I've gained a HUGE butt and a very protruding belly. Need to work on those areas.

3) I'd like to get my clothing size down to a size 8. That's what I was in High School. Okay, I'd settle for 10. Even 12. Right now, I'm 18 but some things can be 16. Yes, my size goal is lofty. So for now, I'm aiming for 14.

4) This may seem ridiculous, but I don't think so. I want to shower everyday, make my hair curly and sexy, wear lotions and perfume, keep legs shaved, put on full makeup, and dress nicely. Currently, I do wear makeup everyday, even when I'm staying home all day with my 2 y/o. And I do try to dress nice. Showers don't occur on a daily basis; gross, I know. Mainly it's b/c I can never shower alone; my daughter always wants to get in.
Why, you may wonder, do I want to do all of this? B/c it will make me feel better about myself. I always feel wonderful when I have a nice outfit and makeup on. And if I have a great attitude, then it will be easier to stick to a weight loss regimen.

Well... here we go! It's 11:11 PM. In only 49 minutes I'll be dedicating myself to this plan. Cheers and good luck!

Hiatus

[Okay, really this is Becky. Abby is the primary holder of this blog, so I needed to sign in under her account to change the template.]

Well, we've had a very long hiatus. Abby is still pretty much MIA from the blogosphere. I, however, have been keeping up with Adventures, JAQQ2, and now [hopefully] this again.

I recently found an intriguing weight-loss challenge blog/website: Tales from the Scales. Looks really good. I think I'm going to try it out.

I'm crossing my fingers, hoping that this SAHM can handle a toddler girl AND all of these blog things.

[I've been going through template-withdrawal. So, I spent most of my free time today changing this blog's template. Great, or what?!?!? Its so much fun to do. Maybe I should go into business providing fun templates for other bloggers? Nah, I'm not that good.]

Supersized Abby Minimized!

At the onset of all this diet stuff, I had been a size 20W.

Now I'm wearing a 14W bottoms and a 16M tops. I'm disproportioned. My top is a size smaller than my bottom! I can get my but into a 14W pant, but the 14W top is huge. But the 16M bottom is just a smidge tight, while the top is perfect.

That's encouraging to me. I need to hold on to that!!! Use it as motivation.

I have no clue what my goal is. Maybe I'll say 14M bottoms by beach. I need to get my butt in gear w/ this whole diet thing!

Right now, I keep bouncing between 180 and 185 lbs. I want to get to 160. Then I'll assess where I'm at and where I want to go.

I did a good job this week through lunches. It was dinners that killed me. Augh!

There Goes That Bandwagon

A few weeks ago, I fell off the "Diet Bandwagon." Got myself a bit banged up. I need to get back on it, but it keeps going right past me!

Maybe I'll just make my own wagon.

New Beginnings

Abby and I are starting over! We will call eachother EVERY night to check up on eachother. To keep accountable.

Yesterday was good for me... until I came home from B&N. I was so depressed since my Hubby was upset w/ me, that I ate a ton of candy after he went to sleep.

Today I simply had cereal and coffee for breakfast. But then i splurged on lunch: Sonic's for a Chicken Club Toaster and Large Tater-Tots. Taking into account that Erica shared a few of the tots, I took in approximately 23 points!!! OUCH! But i knew what i was getting myself into. I had it planned. For dinner, I will simply have a baked potatoe w/ broccoli. That will only be 1 point.

26 alloted points
-5 for breakfast
-23 for lunch
-1 for dinner

all equals -3 points

In other news...

I'm thinking again about the beach trip this summer. Its approx three months away now. If I can stick to my diet, I'll lose 2 pounds a week. That's 8 lbs a month. I have the potential to lose 24 pounds. [I'm not exactly sure of my current weight. My scales are frustrating me, they are hard to read, and I'm not sure which one is right. Regardless...] That would take me from 190-ish down to 166 lbs! Absolutely amazing. And really, IT IS attainable. I just need to stay disciplined.
